Extraction or removal of teeth may be necessary for a number of reasons. Teeth that fracture below the gum line may not have enough structure left to save. Cavities and root canal disease may be severe enough to warrant the extraction of teeth. Periodontal disease can cause bone loss and loose teeth. In advanced cases, the tooth cannot be saved and must be extracted. Dental implants are often recommended to replace the missing tooth.
